BOERNE– PoPo Family Restaurant was bursting with businesses Thursday evening brought together by Boerne Radio for a good cause: ensuring as many kids have a special Easter holiday as possible.

The local beacon of communication does more than inspire a groove or educate Boerne and greater Kendall County residents through the airwaves, as the Co-founders Baron and Shan Wiley host many community- building and networking events.

Thursday, during their monthly Boost Boerne Business networking event, the radio station team wrangled several businesses together in the hopes of getting Easter basket donations for children in need.

It was even more successful than they’d imagined.

“There was so much energy filling the PoPo Family dining room with 110 plus Boerne business owners and leaders networking and having fun,” Shan Wiley said. “They over delivered! Our goal was to secure 30 Easter baskets that would be given to ids in the Hill Country Family Services program and the Kendall County Women’s Shelter.

The dining space of the longtime local staple restaurant was filled to the brim with eager entrepreneurs waiting to see if they could score one of the many gift cards handed out that night through a raffle system.

However, one truly lucky winner who donated an Easter blessing was up to take home the big prize: 100 promotional spots on the booming Boerne broadcast.

“For every basket donated, a ticket was given to win a drawing for 100 commercials on Boerne Radio 103.9 FM. WE had 45 baskets given, so 45 kids were the real winners.”

The room was jovial as names were called and prizes were collected, and it was all for a greater cause.

After having his name drawn for one of many gift cards raffled off Thursday night, Zac Hale, general sales manager for Cavender Chevrolet, asked Boerne Radio founders to donate the prize to first responders.
