Sharon Payne, 61, passed away on February 7, 2022, in Bexar County. Private services with close family and friends will be held to celebrate her life.

Sharon was born September 3, 1960, in New Hartford, New York, to Robert and Elizabeth Van Allen. Sharon will reunite with her father, Robert Van Allen, in heaven. 

She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Van Allen; her spouse, Ray Ortega; and her son, Chad Payne, wife Terra and son Jasper. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Van Allen, wife Vicki and their children; her brother, Aaron Van Allen, wife Donna, and their children; and her brother, Scott Van Allen, and wife Adelina. She is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews.

Sharon was a fun-filled person, always up for a laugh with a heart for helping others. After her career of being a legal secretary for Kendall County judge, she entered the caregiving field for a local monastery, and after, Visiting Angels, where she spent many years as a caregiver. She loved to be in the kitchen baking for friends and loved ones. Especially during Christmas, her cookies and sausage bread were one of a kind. 

One of her favorite things to do was watch her grandson grow up and be a carbon copy of her son. She also loved the beach, where she stated many times she would love to live. A special location at the beach will be chosen to spread her ashes.
