The Boerne High football team had six players named to the Texas Sports Writers Association Blue Bell Ice Cream 4A All-State Team for the 2022 season.
Five of the six Greyhounds were named to the first-team, unprecedented in BHS football history, while the other player landed on the second team.
Senior Jacob McLaughlin was a first-team center, senior Braden Baize was first-team wide receiver, senior Caleb Hamby as a first-team defensive lineman, sophomore Hutson Hendrix was a first-team linebacker and senior Houston Hendrix was a first-team secondary player, while sophomore Jaxon Baize was a second-team quarterback.
Coaches and sports reporters nominated players and then members of the TSWA print media voted on the final selections.
The Greyhounds finished the 2022 season at 15-1 and advanced all the way to the 4A DI state title game before falling to China Spring, 24-21. Along the way the Hounds set new Boerne ISD football records for most wins in a season, deepest playoff run and consecutive victories.
