Chargers, Hounds at Boerne ISD Relays

Boerne ISD recently held its first of two relay events and both the Chargers and Greyhounds finished in the top 3.

The Charger girls scored 206 points for 1st and the Lady Hounds were 3rd with 95 points.

Champion tallied 261 points on the boys side for 1st and the BHS boys were 3rd with 88 points.

There was a second BISD meet last week that was cut short due to the weather but be sure to look in the Star for results.

Varsity Girls

Champion’s Elizabeth Leachman turned in a top 10 time nationally in the 3200 after running a 10:52.18. Josey Whitaker was 3rd in 11:59 and Grace Flore finished 4th in 12:14, while Eleanor Davis of BHS was 5th with a 12:41.

The Chargers 4x100 relay came in 2nd with a 48.86 and the BHS girls were 4th with a 51.41.

Chargers Kendall Fallon, Destiney Rose and Emma Rice went 1-2-3 in the 800 with times of 2:21, 2:23 and 2:24, while Madison Morris and Landon Wade of BHS finished 5-6 with times of 2:37.30 and 2:37.69.

Champion’s Addison Hankins won the 100 hurdles after clocking in at 16.18 and Larysa Green was 4th in 17.31.

In the 100 dash, Chargers Erin Fallon, Juliana Syroney and Madison Meinke went 3-4-5 with times of 12.72, 12.86 and 12.88.

The Chargers 4x200 relay placed 2nd with a 1:47 and the BHS girls were 3rd with a 1:49, while in the 1600 relay, the Chargers were 3rd in 4:05 and BHS was 6th in 4:23.

Champion’s Kendall Fallon won the 300 hurdles after recording a 47.22 and Larysa Green was 5th in 53.55, while BHS’s Addie Dayoc placed 6th in 53.65.

Champion’s Carsyn Bradley and Juliana Syroney were 4th and 5th in the 200, while Riley Scheidt of BHS was 6th at 28.08.

The Charger girls dominated in the 1600 after Elizabeth Leachman, Josey Whitaker, Kynley Albright and Grace Flores took the top 4 spots with times of 5:06, 5:28, 5:29 and 5:54 and Kamryn Neer came in 6th in 6:06. Leachman’s time was a top 50 in the nation.

In field events, Boerne’s Tori Adams won the shot put with a toss of 44-9 for a top 10 throw in the nation so far this year, while Morgan Naylor was 5th with a 32-0. For the Chargers, Hailee Goodwin and Lorena Barreiro Bidot finished 3rd and 4th with throws of 34-2 and 33-7.5.

Tori Adams also won the discus with a toss of 141-2 to register a top-25 throw in the nation, while Morgan Naylor was 6th with a 92-8. For the Chargers, Cameron Wampler came in 3rd with a 99-1 and Hailee Goodwin finished 5th with a 93-4.

BHS did well in the pole vault after Kayuki Warren won the event after she cleared 10-0, while Katie Schickedanz and Addie Dayoc were 5th and 6th after clearing 8-0 and 7-6. For the Chargers, Peyton Smith, Vivian Cardenas and Talia Venner went 3-4-5 after they cleared 10-0, 9-0 and 9-0. Boerne’s Kendall Lemm cleared 5-6 to win the high jump and turned in a top 10 showing nationally, while Prisca Igbo was 3rd at 5-0 and Alyson Bendele finished 5th at 4-4, while Champions Erin Martin took 4th after clearing 4-10.

BHS’s Savannah Seibert won the long jump with a leap of 17-0 and Champion’s Kendall Fallon was 3rd at 16-7. Fallon won the triple jump with a measurement of 34-7.5, Carsyn Bradley was 3rd with a 34-0.50, while Hound Ashlyn Mazur placed 4th with a 32-2.5.

Varsity Boys

Chargers Charlie Houck, Ben Matamoros, Patrick Thornton and Luke Grametbauer went 1-2-5-6 in the 3200 with times of 10:17, 10:43, 10:58 and 10:58, while BHS’s Chase Balderas was 3rd with a 10:46 and Parker Powell was 7th at 11:08.

The Charger 4x100 won the race with a 42.85 and BHS was 4th with a 48.11.

Chargers Luis Tovar and Caleb Dehart went 1-2 in the 800 with times of 1:58 and 2:03 with Tovar’s time was a top 50 nationally. BHS’s Barrett Crofut came in 4th with a 2:04.

Champion’s Ben Blomqvist won the 110 hurdles after clocking in at 15.49 and Brandon Karbowski and Grant Menzies were 4th and 5th with 16.88 and 16.99. Boerne’s McCoy Bruce and Hudson Bruce went 2-3 with times of 16.27 and 16.78.

Charger Arlis Adickes won the 100 with an 11.04 and Corbin Mitchell placed 5th with an 11.32, while BHS’s Braden Baize was 2nd after clocking in at 11.26 and William Freeman was 4th with an 11.30.

Champion won the 4x200 with a 1:29 and BHS was 3rd with a 1:31.

Charger Ben Blomqvist won the 400 and turned in a top 50 time nationally at 50.15, Brock Lewis came in 3rd in 53.84 and Hayden Brace was 4th with a 53.94.

Boerne’s McCoy Bruce won the 300 hurdles after recording a 42.47 and Hudson Bruce was 5th at 47.14, while Champion’s Grant Menzies came in 2nd at 43.12.

Chargers Luke Rossi and Corbin Mitchell were 4th and 6th in the 200 with times of 22.98 and 23.23.

Champion finished 4th in the 4x400 with a time of 3:26 and the Hounds were 5th at 3:38.

In field events, Logan Schram of BHS took 1st in the shot put with a toss of 50-5 for a top 50 throw nationally and Kaden Fisher was 6th a 44-8. For the Chargers, Riley Wampler and Connor Warzecha were 2nd and 3rd with tosses of 49-10.5 and 49-2.50 with Wampler’s toss a top 50 throw as well.

At the time of the meet, Connor Warzecha’s throw in the discus at 179-8 was the best in the nation, while Riley Wampler was second in the event at 167-8 for a throw in the top 25 nationally, while Nico Lopez and Aiden Harris went 5-6 with throws of 135-6 and 126-1. For BHS, Kaden Fisher placed 4th with a 136-2 and Braden Bays was 7th in 122-2.

The Chargers went 1-2-3 in the pole vault after Brooks Jones, Luke Rossi and Landon Kolacny cleared 14-6, 13-6 and 12-0 with Jones and Rossi both registering in the top 50 nationally.

Champion’s Robert Wegleitner won the high jump at 5-10, Ben Blomqvist took 3rd at 5-8 and Griffin Jones was 4th at 5-6.

Charger Josh Hierholzer won the long jump with a measurement of 22-4 to place top 25 nationally, while Benton Warrick and Hayden Brace were 3-4 with leaps of 20-6.5 and 20-5.50. BHS’s Woodrow Goen finished 5th with a jump of 20-2.

Hierholzer also won the triple jump with a leap of 42-10.5, while Brace and Warrick were 2nd and 3rd with jumps of 41-9.5 and 39-6.5, while Boerne’s Javier Benevides was 6th at 37-10.5.

In wheelchair events, Champion’s Ephraim Tonn-Bourg clocked in at 17.54 in the 100 and 1:03 in the 400.
