The Boerne High softball team was entered in its final tournament of the regular season in Seguin last weekend where they posted a 4-1 record and finished in fourth place.
BHS is 14-7 overall and visited Jourdanton on Tuesday.
Ava Nieto had a strong tournament and finished with a home run, 2 triples, 2 doubles, 6 singles, 2 walks, 12 RBI and didn’t strike out once.
Boerne opened with a 9-2 win over Lehman behind 10 hits on Thursday.
Cameron Cooper hit 3 singles and Taryn Madlock finished with 2 doubles, 3 RBI and a run scored, Bre Krause scored twice, while Taylor Wilson had 2 singles and picked up 3 RBI.
Ava Rodriguez went the distance and picked up the win in 5 innings after she gave up 2 hits, 1 earned run, fanned 6 and didn’t give up a walk.
BHS returned on Friday and edged Alice, 2-1. The Lady Hounds scored both its runs in the top of the second.
Ava Nieto doubled, singled and scored, while Taryn Madlock scored a run. Cameron Cooper and Ava Renteria also hit singles.
Ava Rodriguez went 5 innings in the circle and yielded 2 hits, 1 run, walked 1 and fanned 3.
Boerne’s only loss came Friday afternoon against Leander, 3-2. The Hounds were down 3-0 but scored 2 in its final at bat but the rally came up short.
Ava Nieto hit 2 singles and Heidi Maytum and Isa Renteria both singled. Renteria and Maytum scored, while Nieto and Maytum drove in one run each.
Renteria went 4 innings and gave up 5 hits, 2 earned run, 1 walk and struck out 2.
On Saturday, Boerne picked up a blowout win over Hebbronville, 17-8. The Hounds tallied 5, 3, 2 and 7 runs in the first four innings and hit 3 home runs, 2 triples and 5 doubles. They finished with 14 hits and 16 RBI.
Taryn Madlock, Riley Partin and Taylor Wilson all homered, while Partin scored 2 runs, Wilson and Madlock picked up 3 RBI each.
Jess Aguirre and Ava Nieto both tripled, while Aguirre doubled, and Nieto drove in 2 runs and scored three times.
Nieto, Partin, Ava Renteria, Ava Rodriquez and Wilson all doubled.
Rodriguez and Renteria both pitched, and Rodriguez picked up the win. She gave up 5 hits, no earned runs, struck out 7 and didn’t walk a batter, while Renteria yielded 4 hits, 4 earned runs, 2 walks and sat down 1 batter.
Boerne closed out the tourney with another high-scoring game and a 16-3 win over Laredo United South.
The Lady Hounds knocked out 15 hits, including 3 homers, a tri- ple and 5 doubles. Taryn Madlock homered, scored twice and drove in 2 runs, Ava Nieto homered, tripled and singled, picked up 5 RBI and scored twice, while Ava Renteria homered, collected 3 RBI and scored once.
Taylor Wilson hit 3 doubles, scored 3 runs and pushed in 2 runs, Ava Rodriguez doubled and scored twice, and Heidi Maytum doubled, hit 2 singles, scored twice and had an RBI.
Rodriguez and Renteria both tossed 2 innings, with Rodriguez getting the win after she gave up 1 hit, 1 earned run and 4 walks to go with 1 strikeout. Renteria surrendered 2 hits, no runs or walks and sat down 2.
