The Geneva School of Boerne girls soccer teams won a pair of district soccer matches against St. Michael’s on Tuesday and St. Mary’s Hall last Friday on Senior Night.
The Eagles have won six in a row and are 9-2 overall with two district home games left before playoffs. On Thursday they played TMI-Episcopal and on Friday they tangle with Austin Brentwood.
Vs. St. Michael’s
The last time the teams met they went to a penalty kick shootout with the Austin school winning a close one over the Eagles, so on Tuesday, Geneva had payback on its mind.
Tuesday’s match also went to a shootout and this time the Eagles prevailed, 3-2.
Geneva scored in the first 10 minutes of the half on a throw-in from Avery Myrick and a nice finish from Maddie Sue Arnold, but with minutes to go in the half, St. Michael’s would level the score at 1-1 to close the half.
The second half was just as exciting and five minutes in the Lady Eagles would again take the lead off a nice finish from Noelle Moerdyk but with less than two minutes left in regulation, St. Michael’s tied it up and sent it to penalty kicks.
Just like in their first meeting, Geneva ended up with goals from Kaylie Stringfellow, Avery Myrick and Noelle Moerdyk to get the win.
Vs. St. Mary’s Hall
The Eagles hosted the Barons last Friday night for Senior Night and no time was wasted putting up goals and Geneva won easily, 9-1.
Geneva jumped out with its first goal less than three minutes into the first half and went into the break ahead, 5-0.
The second half started with Geneva’s first goal in just under 30 seconds and that pace would continue with three more goals to get the win.
