BHS run rules East Central, 11-1

Boerne High was on the road for its 2022 softball opener and eased past East Central, 11-1.

BHS starts the year at 1-0 and is entered in the NFCA Texas Leadoff Classic in College Station this weekend.

The Lady Hornets scored a run in the first inning but the rest of the night belonged to the Lady Hounds. Boerne answered with 6 runs in the top of the second. They fol lowed that with single runs in the third, fourth and fifth frames and closed it out with two runs in the top of the sixth.

After East Central didn’t score in the bottom of the sixth, the mercy rule kicked in.

BHS finished with 12 hits, 11 runs and 9 RBI. Taryn Madlock hit a 2-run homer and scored twice, Cameron Cooper doubled and singled, drove in a run and scored, while Brooke Sivek hit 2 singles, scored and picked up an RBI.

Heidi Maytum hit 2 singles and scored once, Morgan Duty plated a run, Ava Rodriguez singled and scored, Madi Dorrow singled, had an RBI and plated 2 runs, Ava Nieto singled, scored and drove in a run, Reese Wilson walked and pushed in a run, and Taylor Wilson knocked out 2 singles, picked up an RBI and scored once.

Ava Rodriguez went all 6 innings in the circle and fanned 10, walked 1, yielded 4 hits and gave up 1 run.
