Comfort High opened its 2022 softball season Monday night against Junction and run-ruled the Eagles in six innings, 11-1.
CHS starts the year at 1-0 and plays in the Junction tournament this weekend.
The Deer opened with 2 runs in the first and another 2 in the third for the 4-0 lead. Junction got on the board in the top of the 4th inning with a single run to make it 4-1, but the Deer closed out the bottom half of the frame with 4 runs for the 8-1 lead.
That would be Junction’s only run of the game, but Comfort kept scoring and added 2 runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to kick in the mercy rule.
The Deer finished with 9 hits and were led by Morgan Hansen who hit a home run, a double and a single, while she scored 3 runs and picked up 4 RBI.

Wardlaw was the winning pitcher and gave up 1 hit and 1 run and fanned 15 with no walks.
