The Boerne High boys soccer matched its season high in goals scored after the Greyhounds recorded 9 goals in last Friday’s district match with Canyon Lake.
BHS hammered the Hawks 9-0 to close out the first round of district play at 6-0. The Greyhounds are 16-3-2 overall and began second- round 26-4A action Tuesday by hosting Fredericksburg.
The Greyhounds had previously tallied 9 goals in district play on Feb. 7 against Great Hearts Northern Oaks and matched that on Friday. They probably could have scored more but were playing keep-away once they hit 9 goals.
In last Friday’s match, Joe Ballenger finished with a hat trick and tallied 3 goals and Bear Kelley knocked in 2 goals, while Jess Gonzales, Brett Hettie, Justin Baine and Jake Herman all recorded single goals for the Hounds.
Hudson Vickery and Kelly both finished with 2 assists, while Austin Vecino, Hettie, Ballenger and Baine all had 1 assist apiece as 8 of the 9 goals were assisted.
