Boerne High was shorthanded on Friday when the boys basketball squad hosted Bandera but that didn’t affect the Greyhounds team that went on to post a 30-point win over the Bulldogs, 54-24, as one Boerne player reached a personal milestone.
BHS has already clinched this year’s 28-4A title so Friday’s outcome didn’t affect its district standings but the Hounds are trying to keep a perfect league mark and they did.
Boerne is 9-0 in district and 26-6 overall. They visit Davenport on Tuesday to close out the regular season and look to improve to 10-0 before opening the playoffs next week.
BHS was minus three players after they had to sit out a game after they were ejected in last Tuesday’s game for coming off the bench during a minor melee, but Coach McHone brought up some JV players that filled in well.
Devin Styles reached the 1,000-point mark for his career in the first half on Friday and led the Hounds with 14 points in the game.
Trevor Agarwal netted 7, Preston Thompson added 6, Barrett Pape, Houston Hendrix and Sam Holland all chipped in with 4, Jaxon Baize netted 4, Koen Wolff and Josh Hines scored 3 apiece and Hutson Hendrix finished with 2.
Houston Hendrix grabbed 9 rebounds, Styles snagged 8 boards, dished out 4 assists and also came up with 3 steals and 1 block.
