Comfort High hosted Florence on Tuesday and the boys basketball team earned its first district victory after the Bobcats defeated the Buffaloes, 56-34.
With the win, the Cats improved to 11-15 overall and 1-1 in District 5-3A play. They traveled to Ingram on Friday.
Comfort was up 24-11 at the end of the first quarter and then outscored the Buffs in the second, 11-6, for the 35-17 halftime lead.
Florence made a push in the third after winning the quarter, 15-8, and cut the lead to 43-32, but the Cats took control in the fourth and outscored the Buffaloes 13-2 to close it out.
Joel Lozano led the Bobcats with 14 points, Jaydin Steward added 13 and Eli Gilliland scored 11 as three Cats were in double digits.
Jovani Zapata netted 8, Landon Aguirre and Terick Rodriguez both scored 4 and Noah Southwick added 2.
