Champion soccer team hosts alumni match

The Boerne Champion boys soccer team held an alumni match last Friday at Charger Field and the 2023 squad earned a 5-2 win over the alumni.

About 20 alumni team members showed up, including former professional player Blake Smith who played in the MLS and last suited up for San Antonio FC two seasons ago.

The Champion girls were scheduled to have an alumni match before the boys match last week, but not enough of them showed up so it was canceled, while the Lady Greyhounds called off their alumni match since it conflicted with the Boerne football team’s state championship game.
