The Boerne Champion boys soccer team won Tuesday night’s defensive struggle against Harlandale at Charger Field.
Champion scored the only goal of the match early and went on to record the 1-0 win over the Indians.
It’s Champion’s first win of the year and leaves them at 1-0-1. They hosted Madison on Friday.
Matthew Magaw tallied the team’s lone goal on the assist from Bentley McCool and then the defense, led by goalie Joseph Toczynski, kept the Indians off the board for the entire night.
Chargers coach Clifton Tierney said it was a solid all-around effort.
“It was a great result for our guys, the defense played well,” he said. “Harlandale has a great team and have been on a roll, it was good to get that result we needed for our first win of the season.”
