Shirlee Ann Proffit
February 15, 1939 – February 10, 2022
Shirlee Ann Proffit, 82, passed from her earthly body to join our Lord and Savior on February 10, 2022.
Shirlee was born on February 15, 1939, in Houston, Texas, to Donald T. and Lurline Manville.
She graduated from Breckenridge High School in San Antonio, Class of 1957. She attended TWU, SA Junior College, and graduated from the University of Corpus Christi in 1973 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She then went on to receive her masters in education from Sol Ross State University in 1976.
Shirlee was a passionate educator who impacted many lives throughout her 31 years of service. She served her community as a loving teacher, diagnostician, special education supervisor and counselor.
She married the love of her life, Glenn Proffit, on September 26, 1959. Their 62 years of love and devotion to one another has been an inspiration to their family.
Her greatest joys in life included singing in the church choir, traveling, having all her family together for the holidays and Mexican food.
Shirlee, known as Mema to all, is survived by her husband, Glenn Proffit; three children, Glenn Proffit Jr. and wife Stella, Julie Ann Evans and husband Thomas and Matthew Proffit and husband Joe Bolanos; grandchildren Christopher Proffit, Brittney Boyd, Christina Proffit and T.J. Evans; great-grandchildren Sebastien, Elijah and Bree; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is reunited in heaven with her parents, Donald and Lurline Manville; in-laws Glenn Willard and Mamie Dell Proffit; and sister-in-law Joan Dell Cooper.
Visitation will be held at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth St. in Grand Prairie, Texas, from 2 to 6 pm. p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022.
