The Boerne Champion girls team passed on this year’s Boerne ISD Tournament and instead played at the Wimberley Hoopsfest where the Lady Chargers advanced all the way to the championship game.
Champion had a slow start in the first quarter of Friday’s title tilt and fell to San Marcos HomeSchool, 67-53.
The Lady Chargers won its first four games of the tournament and finished the event with a record of 4-1. Also, Hudson Lonsdale and Adriana Barreiro were both named to the all- tournament team. The Lady Chargers are 18-5 overall and resumed district action on Tuesday at Kerrville Tivy. They return home Friday to host Pieper at 6:30 p.m.
Champion won its first four games at the tourney to advance to the title game. Last Wednesday, the Lady Chargers whipped Austin Navarro, 76-17, and then beat state-ranked TAPPS team Antonian, 69-47.
On Thursday, the Lady Chargers beat two more teams. Champion blew out another opponent, Lago Vista, 62-17, and then finished out the day with a 60-36 win over Rowlett.
On Friday, the Lady Chargers played San Marcos HomeSchool and lost 67-53.
