Boerne Champion closed out the regular season in girls basketball Tuesday night at home and ended district play with a win.

The Lady Chargers defeated the Johnson Jaguars on Tuesday, 59-26, and will enter the postseason next week as the No. 3 seed from its district.

Champion is 26-7 overall and 13-3 in 26-5A. Canyon won the district, Kerrville Tivy finished second, the Chargers were third and Seguin took fourth.

A Tivy loss on Tuesday would have tied Champion and Kerrville for second but the Antlers defeated Dripping Springs to hold the No. 2 seed.

Instead, Champion will play Georgetown on Tuesday at Lehman, 6:30 p.m., in the opening round. Georgetown was second in its district.

Khiara Flugence led the Chargers with 18 points, Kristen Borgerding added 14, Kendall Skipper tallied 9, Madyson Marquard and Olivia Keilman both netted 6, while Emily Plank, Grace Menzies and Adri Davenport all chipped in with 2.

Borgerding grabbed 8 rebounds, Plank had 6 boards, Davenport, Borgerding and Skipper all dished out 3 assists and Flugence came up with 4 steals and Plank had 3 steals.

THE CHAMPION GIRLS FACE GEORGETOWN ON TUESDAY, FEB. 15, AT LEHMAN, 6:30 P.M., IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE 5A PLAYOFFS.
