The Boerne High girls earned a share of this year’s District 28-4A title after they won Tuesday at Wimberley.
Boerne tamed the Lady Texans, 64-45, and finished district at 9-1. Fredericksburg won Tuesday’s regular-season finale against Bandera and also finished at 9-1 in 28-4A.
Since Boerne and Fred split their two district games, they’ll end with identical 9-1 records and each claim a share of the 28-4A title.
For seeding purposes in the playoffs, they have to flip or play to break the tie and they flipped Wednesday with the Battlin’ Billies winning the flip and getting the No. 1 seed and Boerne will take the second seed.
The Lady Greyhounds (29-4 overall) open the playoffs Monday on Valentine’s Day and look to break the hearts of Cuero in a game to be played at Seguin, 6:30 p.m. Boerne is the defending regional champs.
Jamie Ruede continues to play well and paced the team with 24 points on Tuesday and Averi Aaron added 18, Savannah Salinas netted 7, Sushanna Cobb scored 4, while Jenna Ruede, Liz Fox, Jordyn Lemm, Sarah Adamek and Karson Kurtz all finished with 2 points.
Aaron grabbed 14 rebounds and came up with 3 steals, while Salinas had 5 assists.
THE BHS GIRLS PLAY CUERO ON MONDAY, FEB. 14, IN SEGUIN, 6:30 P.M. IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE 4A PLAYOFFS.
