Boerne High made the long drive to Uvalde on Monday and made short work of the Coyotes in boys non-district basketball action.
BHS defeated Uvalde, 51-38, and improved to 10-5 overall. Boerne’s game with Southwest scheduled for Friday was called off so the Greyhound family could make the trip to AT&T Stadium in Dallas to watch the Boerne football team play for the state title.
The Greyhounds were winning 19-10 at the end of one, but the Coyotes outscored them in the second, 10-8, and BHS held a 27-20 advantage at the break.
Boerne won the third quarter, 16-11, and opened up a 43-31 lead as the game headed to the final stanza.
The final quarter turned into a defensive struggle, but the Hounds claimed the fourth period by a point, 8-7.
Colton Hoegemeyer led Boerne in scoring with 12 points and Trevor Agarwal was also in double figures with 11 points. Barrett Pape was one point shy of double digits and netted 9 points, Casen Hoegemeyer tallied 6, Nic Hernandez scored 5, while Sam Holland and Luke Fox both chipped in with 4 points.
Colton Hoegemeyer led the team on the boards with 9 rebounds, Agarwal grabbed 8 rebounds, Pape dished out 7 assists and came up with 5 steals.
