The Comfort High boys basketball team has seen Harper a lot lately and based on the results, the Bobcats should put the Longhorns on the schedule a few more times.
Comfort defeated Harper last Saturday in its last game of the Comfort Tournament, and then in a quirk of the schedule, the Bobcats played Harper once again on Tuesday, also at home.
Comfort won last Saturday’s meeting, 50-25, and then took Tuesday’s contest, 62-30. With the win, the Cats improved to 6-9 on the season. They hosted Junction on Friday.
Comfort took control early by tripling Harper in the first quarter, 15-5, and then buried the Longhorns in the second period, 21-2, for the 36-7 halftime lead.
Harper played better after that but it didn’t do much to affect the outcome. The Longhorns tallied 13 and 10 for 23 second-half points, but Comfort still outscored them with 14 and 12 for 26 second-half points.
Jaydin Steward was the only Bobcat in double figures after he tallied 13, Eli Gilliland netted 9, Jovani Zapata and Landon Aguirre finished with 8 apiece, Ollie Engleman scored 5, Caleb Van Geffen finished with 4, Terick Rodriguez, Aidan Schwarz and Issac Duran all chipped in with 3, while Tony Ybarra, Santos Hernandez and Joel Lozano dropped in 2 points each.
