Comfort Deer go 2-2 at Junction Tournament

The Comfort High girls basketball team posted a record of 2-2 at the Junction Tournament last weekend.

It was feast or famine for the Deer after they dropped both games on Friday but rebounded on Saturday to win both, including beating a team they had lost to on Friday.

Comfort is 11-9 overall and visited Stockdale on Friday and the Deer are on the road again Friday when they visit YWLA and play at Lanier, 6:30 p.m.

Freshman Jael Hernandez and senior Meghan Davis were named to the All-Tournament team for the Deer.  

Hernandez finished with 35 points, 9 steals, 8 rebounds and 5 assists over the four games.

Davis tallied 45 rebounds, 23 points, 6 assists and 3 steals over the four games.

Comfort opened the tourney on Friday and lost to Junction, 44-33, and later in the day, they fell to Eden, 48-23.

The Deer returned on Saturday and won both its games. They squeaked past Leakey, 30-27, and then got the better of Junction in overtime a day after losing to the Eagles by 11 points.

In their rematch on Saturday, Comfort was victorious by a point, 29-28. It was tied 26-26 after four quarters and then the Deer outscored Junction in the extra stanza, 3-2.
