Boerne High picked up its most lopsided win of the year so far in girls basketball after the Lady Greyhounds blew away the Hurricanes of Sam Houston Tuesday in San Antonio.
The Lady Hounds won the contest, 73-32, and improved to 8-0 after the victory. Boerne was entered in the Georgetown Jack Frost Tournament that started Thursday and continues through Saturday.
Boerne was up 18-10 at the end of one quarter and then put it in another gear in the second and outscored the Hurricanes, 24-8, for the 42-18 halftime lead.
Sam Houston struggled in the third and only scored 3 points, while the Lady Hounds dropped in 20 to increase its lead to 62-21.
The teams played even in the fourth and both scored 11.
Averi Aaron led the team with 20 points, Jamie Ruede finished with 14, Jenna Ruede and Chloe Donnell added 8 points apiece, Savannah Salinas netted 7, Mickena Randle tallied 6, Abby Smith had 5, Taegan King chipped in with 3 and Liz Fox hit for 2.
Abby Smith dished out 5 assists, Jenna Ruede recorded 4 assists, Salinas grabbed 8 rebounds, while Jamie Ruede and Aaron both collected 6 rebounds.
