The Boerne High girls basketball team put its perfect record on the line last Monday when the Lady Greyhounds hosted Highlands.
BHS handled the Lady Owls, 58-34, and stayed perfect this year at 7-0. The Lady Greyhounds played Sam Houston on Tuesday and will then play in the Georgetown Jack Frost Tournament that starts Thursday and continues through the weekend.
Boerne was up 20-7 at the end of one to take control early. BHS won the second quarter and held a 31-17 lead at the break.
The Lady Hounds put the game away in the third period by outscoring the Lady Owls, 18-3, and opened up a 49-20 advantage. Highlands won the fourth quarter, 14-9, to close out the game.
Boerne received the bulk of its scoring from three players after Averi Aaron and Abby Smith both netted 20 points each and Jamie Ruede tallied 10 as the three combined for 50 of the team’s 58 points.
Smith scored 8 of her points at the free-throw line on 8 of 10 shooting and Aaron made 7 of her points at the line.
Savannah Salinas added 5 points, Taegan King scored 2 and Chloe Donnell hit a free throw.
