Carriage House Gallery of Artists invites you to celebrate a new year with new art of Katrina Gorman from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 8. Enjoy a glass of wine and chocolates while becoming acquainted with Gorman and her passion for fiber art.

Gorman was born in Indiana. She began drawing at an early age to illustrate her short stories. At age 9n, she began developing her attraction to fabric through her mom’s sewing. In sixth grade, Gorman made her wardrobe for the school year! In high school she received several art awards and a scholarship.

Gorman earned her degree in child development and taught early childhood education. A tragedy later in life provided the inspiration to pursue her love of art.

Gorman is influenced by nature, using rope and fabric to mimic its endless color combinations. She brings her life experiences to life through her art, reflecting her continued awe and wonder.

Her versatility with various mediums is evident as she creates many of her portraits with soft pastels and colored pencils, and her love for the Arizona/ Sedona desert landscapes with a combination of charcoal, graphite, colored pencils and sometimes pastels. And icing on the proverbial cake are her cheerful fabric baskets, a tribute to years of watching mom sew.

Take time to visit this warm and welcoming gallery of artists, and their newest artist, Katrina Gorman, 110 Rosewood Ave. in Boerne. For information, visit www.carriagehouse gallerytx.com.
