Kyle Bullard
May 20, 1993 – December 27, 2021
On Monday, December 27, 2021, Kyle Bullard, beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew and friend, went to be with Jesus at the age of 28 in Dallas, Texas.
Kyle was born on May 20, 1993, in San Antonio, Texas, to Bryan and Lynn (Schubert) Bullard. He was raised in Boerne, Texas, where he developed his passions for sports, cars, the great outdoors and Mexican food. Baptized and confirmed in the Methodist church, Kyle was a man of faith. He
especially enjoyed sharing virtual services with his beloved grandparents over the past year.
Kyle played soccer throughout his childhood as an outside back, fullback and talented goalkeeper, winning the state championship with his team his senior year. His mom loved to say, “He’s a keeper.” His other passion was football where he discovered his gift for placekicking in middle school and high school. He was a walk-on for the University of Houston football team before being awarded a full athletic scholarship.
His athleticism and dedication earned him many accolades, including the Lou Groza Star of the
Week, Lou Groza award semifinalist and midseason All American. He held the program record for most consecutive field goals (18 of 18).
His love of the game continued well after his graduation when he founded his own kicking camp and consulting business. He never missed watching a Houston Cougars football game or the opportunity to remind everyone, “Whose House? Coogs’ House.”
His passion for sports was equally matched by his passion for cars, especially sports cars. If it was fast and loud, Kyle was enthralled. He loved spending time with friends and loved ones on the golf course, snowboarding and skiing, floating the river or in a deer blind. He was warm, kind, endlessly fun, a movie-quote aficionado and a genuine friend and teammate. His humor and wit were always delivered with a twinkle in his eye and signature smirk. His smile lit up the room and his hugs were legendary.
He cared tremendously for people and animals, especially his beloved dogs. Kyle would have rescued every dog in the world if he could have.
Kyle was gifted with a warm and engaging personality. He could talk to anyone, a true asset in the sales positions he held. He was a digital development representative at IBM in Irving, Texas.
Kyle was preceded in death by his father, Bryan Bullard; and his childhood dog, Oakley. He is survived by his mother, Lynn Bullard; sister Megan Long, her husband, Jonathan, and niece Ellison; grandparents Alvin and Margaret Schubert; aunts and uncles Vivian and Chuck Pangburn, Beverly and Roger Morris, Kyle Schubert and Kerri and David Grams; cousins Taylor and Matt Mullins, Marley Grams, Madilyn Grams and Austin Morris; and favorite canine companions Chloe and Chester Bullard, all of whom he loved deeply.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, February 26, at 2 p.m. in The Gathering Hall, Herff Farm Campus, at the Cibolo Center for Conservation, 33 Herff Road, Boerne, TX 78006.
We will be gathering to share some of our favorite memories, our stories, to laugh, to cry and remember a wonderful person who will be greatly missed. Please wear colorful attire (he did love red) to celebrate his fun and uplifting personality.
In lieu of flowers, the Kyle Bullard Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in Kyle’s memory. It was through sports in Boerne that Kyle realized his love for kicking. His family has established this scholarship to be awarded to deserving student-athletes in Boerne to support their dream of competing in collegiate athletics. Details of the process to apply for this scholarship will be
shared soon.
