SAN ANTONIO –Champion remained undefeated in boys basketball this season after the Chargers played in the Harlandale Tournament and took first place.

Champion won all four of its games at the tourney and improved to 6-0. The Chargers continued their non-district season Tuesday of this week at Steele before taking about a week off for the Thanksgiving break.

Braden Baum was named Tournament MVP and Dakarai Hodge was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Chargers.

Playing in the Harlandale tourney was a homecoming of sorts for two of the Champion coaches. Chargers head coach Chris Adamek used to coach the Indians and his assistant Jaime Lira played for Adamek when he was in school there.

Champion opened the tourney with a 49-39 win over John Jay last Thursday. The Chargers returned Friday and beat Pleasanton, 68-32, and then handled Madison in the tournament semifinals, 84-37.

Friday’s win over the Mavericks advanced the Chargers to the title game where they held off TMI – Episcopal, 52-45, to claim first place.
