Champion swimmers dominate at tri-meet

The Boerne Champion swim team competed against Lehman and Cedar Park in a recent tri-meet and the Chargers blew the competition out of the water.

Champion won the boys division with 438 points; the Lady Chargers took first in the girls division with 513 points and the two won the combined standings with 951 points to beat the second-place team by 152 points.

Champion is scheduled to swim again the weekend of Dec. 2-3 at the South Zone TISCA at the NEISD complex.

 

Top finishers in each race:

In the 200-medley relay, the girls team of Kate Deykin, Cameron Kellogg, Regan Garcia and Cora Skoog took 1st with a time of 1:56, while the Charger boys team of Matthew Jeffery, Griff Orloff, Will Harrison and Jake Canales also took 1st after recording a 1:46.

Sarah Tolar was 2nd in the 200 free in 2:16, while Emi Martinez-Galarza won the boys 200 free in 2:03.

Kate Deykin won the 200-yard IM in 2:16 and Jake Canales was 4th in the boys 200 IM in 2:16.

Cora Skoog took 1st in the 50 free after clocking in at 25.62, while Will Harrison and William Tolar tied for first in the boys 50 free after they both touched the wall in a time of 22.94.

Audrey Olivo placed 2nd in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:05, Cora Skoog won the girls 100 freestyle in 55.72 and Matthew Jeffery claimed the top spot in the boys 100 free with a 51.15.

Madelyn Crosley won the 500-freestyle race in 6:16 and Ana Metz was second in 6:22.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Kenna Chastain, Madi Neuman, Laura Valdes and Cayden Van Dyne teamed up for 2nd with a time of 1:53, while the boys team of Griff Orloff, Matthew Jeffery, Jake Canales and Will Harrison came in 1st after posting a 1:32.

Kate Deykin won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04 and Will Harrison came in first in the boys race in 1:01.

Cameron Kellogg swam to a 1st-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:12 and Griff Orloff took 1st in the boys 100 breast with a time of 1:02.

Kate Deykin, Regan Garcia, Cameron Kellogg and Cora Skoog teamed up for 1st in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a 3:52 and the boys squad of William Tolar, Palmer Guerra, Emi Martinez- Galarza and Ian Rutledge came in 1st in the boys 400-free relay after recording a 3:42.

 

NOTES: The Greyhounds also swam at a recent meet in New Braunfels, but results haven’t been turned in to Coach Escalante. The Greyhounds were also scheduled to swim this weekend at a big 4A and Under TISCA Championships at the Southwest ISD Aquatic Center in San Antonio. Be sure to look in the Boerne Star for results.
