The Geneva School of Boerne boys basketball team returned to the court Tuesday for a non-district contest against Pieper.

The Warriors just had too much firepower and defeated Geneva, 79-42, to drop the Eagles to 1-1 this year.

The Eagles were scheduled to play in the Tomball Rosehill tourney this weekend.

In Tuesday’s game, Pieper had almost doubled up Geneva in the first period and held a 19-10 lead, but the Warriors really put some distance between themselves and the Eagles in the second by winning the quarter, 25-8, for the 44-18 halftime advantage.

Pieper won the third quarter, 22-13, and opened up a 66-31 lead by the time the game went to the fourth period.

From there, the Warriors made it a clean sweep and outscored Geneva in all four quarters but not by much in the final stanza, 13-11, to close it out.

Chaz Lutz led the Eagles with 14 points, Colton Lutz added 12, AJ Dube finished with 6, Griffin Freeling netted 5, Malachi Strizu added 3 and Jack Harden chipped in with 2 points.
