Champion swim team hits the water

After a successful water polo season, Champion aquatic changed gears and is now focused on the swim part of their year.

The Chargers were entered in a meet with Steele, Davenport and Clemens and also in the David Johnson Fall Classic at NEISD Aquatics Center before that.

At the David Johnson meet, Emma Haines was first in the 1-meter diving, while Colin Breuer competed in the boys 1-meter diving and was second.

In the meet with Davenport, Steele and Clemens, the Chargers were first in the boys division with 523 points and the girls were first with 710.5 points to propel the team to a firstplace showing in the combined team scoring with a 1233.5.

Some of the highlights were that the Champion girls took the top two spots in the 200-medley relay after the team of Kate Deykin, Cameron Kellogg, Regan Garcia and Cora Skoog combined for a 1:58.41 and Cayden Van Dyne, Madi Neuman, Audrey Olivo and Lilly Schiffelbein combined for second with a 2:06.07.

Lilly Schiffelbein won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:09, Sarah Tolar took first in the 2: 31 and Bexon Harrison won the boys 200-yard IM with a time of 2:03.

Regan Garcia took first in the girls 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.97, Griff Orloff won the boys 50 free with a 22.83 and also took first in the boys 100 butterfly with a 56.76 and Garcia was first in the girls 100 freestyle after clocking in at 56.78 and Ana Metz won the 500-yard freestyle with a 6:18.

The girls 200- yard freestyle squad consisting of Kate Deykin, Came ron Kel logg, Regan Garcia and Cora Skoog was first at 1:45.83 and the Charger boys 200-yard free relay of Matthew Jeffery, Griff Orloff, Will Harrison and Bexon Harrison came in first with a 1:31.23.

Kate Deykin won the 100- yard backstroke after clocking in at 1:03, and also came in first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16, while Bexon Harrison won the 100-yard breaststroke after clocking in at 1:04.
