Geneva School of Boerne visited Providence for a girls basketball game last weekend and the No. 1 state-ranked Eagles (TAPPS 5A) picked up a 48-37 district road victory.

Geneva improves to 23-1 overall and 13-0 in district. They host St. Mary’s Hall on Tuesday as they start to wind down the regular season.

The Eagles were up 12-7 at the end of one quarter and then outscored the Provettes in the second, 9-4, for the 21-11 lead at the break.

Both teams turned it up a notch offensively in the second half and both hit in double digits. The Eagles won the third quarter, 16-13, and opened up a 37-24 advantage.

Providence took the final stanza but only by two points, 13-11, to give Geneva the 11-point win.

The Eagles don’t mind shooting the 3 and let it fly against the Provettes, attempting 30 3-pointers and making 7 of them.

Chloe Donnell knocked down 4 of the 3s and led the team with 16 points, Alexa Elizondo chipped in with 15, Micah How ard finished with 8, Brynn Riebel netted 7 and Ainsley McCloy recorded 2.

Kyra Petty and Riebel both collected 12 rebounds, Riebel had 3 steals, while Howard dished out 3 assists.
