Geneva School of Boerne picked up another district win Friday night at home to remain undefeated in league play.

The Eagles hosted Schertz John Paul II and rolled to a 31-7 victory. Geneva remains perfect in district play at 2-0 and improves to 5-4 overall.

Geneva is on the road Friday and visits Holy Cross for this year’s district title since both the Eagles and Knights enter the contest at 2-0.

Geneva had a slow start to Friday’s game, and it was only 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. KP FitzGerald had the lone score of the opening period after he punched it in from the 5-yard line.

Walker Cone booted the extra point, and the Geneva lead was 7-0, but the Eagles were just getting warmed up.

The Eagles tallied 10 points in the second, 3 of them came on a 28-yard Cone field goal to make it 10-0 and then later in the quarter, Henry Jons scored on a 5-yard sprint. Jons also ran in the 2-point try and the Eagles took an 18-0 advantage into halftime.

Schertz John Paul II was the first on the board in the third quarter after a short run and the Geneva lead was down to 18-7, but the Eagles answered back later in the stanza after FitzGerald found the end zone for the second time in the game, this TD coming on an 8-yard jaunt to make it 24-7 after a missed extra point.

In the fourth quarter, George Viña put the icing on the cake and scored on a 33-yard run. Cone booted the PAT and it was a 31-7 lead, which held until the end.

Geneva had a good game running the ball after all four touchdowns came on the ground and the Eagles tallied 313 rushing yards, while only throwing for 46 yards.

FitzGerald had a monster game running with the rock and finished with 178 rushing yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns. He also caught a pass that went for 6 yards and came up with 3 tackles and 2 assists while on defense.

Viña recorded 2 tackles and assisted on 5 others, while Hayden Allen and Landon Grimes both came up with interceptions in the game for the Geneva defense.
