Edward William Hinesley Sr.

June 23, 1959 – January 16, 2022

Edward William Hinesley Sr. completed his journey to the Lord on January 16, 2022, at the age of 62. Born June 23, 1959, to Gloria Schrempp Hinesley and James Virgil Hinesley Sr., he grew up in small town Boerne and knew everyone by name, was well respected and known as a hard-working, loving family man.

Edward was very athletic throughout school in Boerne in his younger years, although he played basketball and football, track was his favorite sport. He set many records in track and cross country running, some believed are still untouched today.

Edward loved to go camping, spend time with his family, hunting, long walks and working around the family ranch. Rain or shine he was usually outdoors.

He was a man of many talents. As a young man he chopped cedar posts for Landrum Cedar Yard, was a carpenter for Floyd Leeder Construction and Ken Mueller and built pasture fence for many local ranchers.  For the past 20 years, Edward was affectionally known as “the wood guy” who owned and operated Hinesley Firewood, providing wood to many commercial BBQ places, including Rudy’s BBQ, local campgrounds and many faithful personal clients around the Hill Country and South Texas.

He was married to the love of his life, Pamala Hinesley, for 42 blessed years. They shared five children between them: John and James Brown, Edward Hinesley Jr., Micheal Hinesley (Lauren) and Diane Hinesley. He was further blessed with grandchildren Kilee, Caden and Brooke Hinesley; and his adopted son, Edward Hinesley III.

He was not only the rock and foundation for his family but also for his brothers, James and P.J. Hinesley; sister Barbara Leerhoff (Brian); nephews Justin Spriggs, Timothy Schwartz, Philip Jr. and Darren Hinesley; nieces Kelly, Faith and Erin Hinesley and Karen Spriggs throughout their lives. He loved his family fiercely and taught them to love their family, be honest and hard working. Edward would drive hours to support his family at track meets, football games, band concerts and scouting events. He was always the one you could call anytime for anything. Edward will be deeply missed.

Edward has joined his father, James Hinesley Sr.; mother Gloria Obst; stepfather Martin Obst; brother Charles Hinesley; niece Ashlee Fleming; and granddaughter Jordan Hinesley, along with many others in heaven. Edward wished to be cremated. The family will have a memorial celebration of his life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, there is a GoFundMe account set up for hospital expenses in Edward’s name or you can donate to his favorite charity, Heartland Home for Children in Boerne, Texas, at 13 Nottingham Lane, Boerne, TX 78006.
