Boerne Champion hosted No. 3 state-ranked New Braunfels Canyon on Tuesday and put up a good fight, but the Cougarettes pulled off the sweep of the Lady Chargers.
NBC won the match 25-19, 25-13, 25-18 and drops
Champion to 28-9 overall and 6-4 in district. The Lady Chargers were home Friday to host Wagner as they continue to fight for a playoff spot.
Champion’s best chance to take a game on Tuesday came in the first set. Canyon had a strong start at 5-1 but the Chargers came back and tied it. It was back and forth and Champion even built a 16-15 lead and a 17-16 advantage but Canyon tied it both times and then pulled away.
Kelsey Rogers led the team in kills with 9 and added 5 digs and 4 blocks, Izzy Maszak added 10 assists and 8 digs, Sadie Hoyt recorded 8 digs, Emmy Koke came up with 3 blocks, Ella Coleman tallied 7 kills and 3 digs, Raylynn Pitts recorded 6 kills, 5 digs and 2 blocks, Erin Martin added 2 blocks and a dig, Gabbie Rossello finished with 6 assists and a team-high 13 digs, Erin Fallon totaled 7 digs and 4 assists, Skye Conroy had a dig, while Cameron Seaux and Ashleigh Williams both added 3 digs.
