Martin Anthony (Tony) McRedmond Jr.
July 14, 1939 – December 28, 2021
Martin Anthony (Tony) McRedmond Jr. DDS, age 82, of Boerne, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2021, after a brief illness. Tony was born on July 14, 1939, in Dallas, Texas, to Martin Anthony McRedmond, Sr. and Catherine Helen McRedmond.
He graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, and then attended dental school in Houston, Texas, where he met his future wife, Mary Ellen. Tony and Mary Ellen were married on June 12, 1965.
Tony joined the Navy and served in Vietnam as a dentist. He received an honorable discharge, after which he and Mary Ellen moved to San Antonio, Texas, in July 1967. In 1975, they moved their three children, Anthony, Daniel and Antoinette, to Boerne, Texas.
For the next three decades, Tony and Mary Ellen built a successful dental practice. Tony was much loved and respected by his staff and patients for his kindness and true dedication to the health and well-being of those under his care. He retired from dentistry in 2006.
He and Mary Ellen enjoyed 52 years of marriage before Mary Ellen’s passing in February 2018.
Tony had a wide circle of friends and a busy social calendar. He always had a smile on his face and was known for his ability to make you feel appreciated and seen, regardless of whether you were a family member, a friend or a waiter at a restaurant. He was forever busy, whether it was running to Starbucks for a coffee and the New York Times, making a quick trip to the grocery store, taking his daily walk, lounging by the pool or playing tennis at the Fair Oaks Country Club, performing home maintenance tasks, camping and hiking in Big Bend or traveling near and far to visit family members or see the sights in some foreign locale.
Tony was a devoted, adoring husband, a loving, supportive father, and a doting grandfather. He had boundless energy, a gentle spirit and a generous, loving heart. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tony is survived by his three children, Anthony, Daniel and Antoinette; his five grandchildren, Molly, Abigail, Bridget, Connor and Emerson; and his siblings, Francis McRedmond, Kathleen Kahil, Ellen McRedmond, Joan Cannon and David McRedmond.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ellen; his parents, Martin and Helen McRedmond; and his siblings, Alice McRedmond, Jean Bonnen, Joseph McRedmond and Dorothy Weed.
