BHS records top-10 finishes in Round Rock

Both the Boerne High varsity cross country teams made the drive to Round Rock Friday of last week and competed at the HOKA/McNeil Invitational at Old Settler’s Park.

Both the Greyhound teams raced on Day 1 in the 4A competition and turned in solid results. The Boerne boys were fifth and the Lady Hounds came in eighth.

Boerne will help co-host the Boerne ISD meet this Saturday morning at Cibolo Creek Elementary.

 

Varsity Boys

The Boerne boys tallied 258 points for fifth place. Giddings won the race with 77 points, followed by Huffman-Hargrave (124), Salado (154) and Marble Falls (160) in the field of 26 full teams.

Caleb Benchoff was Boerne’s top finisher after he clocked in at 16:55 for 35th, Tayson Farar came in 40th with a 17:01, Carsten Bain placed 50th with a time of 17:13, Parker Powell recorded a time of 17:36 for 65th, Barrett Crofut turned in a 17:43 for 68th, while Cole Palmer was 80th in a time of 17:50 and Ben Macias rounded out the team with a 17:55 that was good for 85th in the field of 218 runners.

 

Varsity Girls

The Boerne High girls scored 294 points for eighth place in the field of 29 full teams. Celina won the race with 59 points, Fredericksburg came in second (73) and Houston St. Agnes placed third (197).

Eleanor Davis had Boerne’s highest individual finish and was 27th after recording a 12:23 in the two-mile race.

Mary Marino came in 42nd in a time of 12:44, Maddie Morris finished 58th in 13:00, Mahaley Merkens clocked in at 13:15 for the 76th spot, Endie Boddie crossed the finish line in 13:30 for 91st, Kelsey Farar turned in a 13:59 for 128th and Penelope Rouse was 144th with a time of 14:14.
