The Comfort Deer began District 5-3A play Tuesday in Llano and staged quite a comeback after dropping the first two sets but rallying to win the last three.
Also, the Deer had a player set a new school record for kills in a match.
Comfort won 19-25, 23- 25, 25- 17, 25- 23, 15-9. With the win the Deer improve to 18-8 overall and 1-0 in district. They hosted Blanco on Friday.
Meghan Davis set a new school record for kills with 23. Davis tied the school record which was 22 back on Aug. 30 against TMI. Also, senior setter Molly Hamilton flirted with the assist record after she recorded 40 assists on the night.
The Deer fell behind early and often in the first two sets as Llano won 25-19 and 25-23. The Comfort girls rallied in third set and won 25-17. In the fourth set the Deer found themselves down 6-0 and 11-1 before staging a furious rally where they chipped away until they tied the score at 22-22. They won 25-23.
Then after losing the first two points of the fifth set, Davis took over with five of her school record 23 kills in the sprint to 15.
