INGRAM – On the same course that began the 2022 cross country season and the same one that will be used for the district meet, members of the Bobcat cross country team sliced time off their season best times like fat off a brisket. Hunter Lackey made his triumphant return and crossed the finish with a season-best time of 17:55, a minute and a half better than his first run back in August.
Freshman Jackson Dear was right behind him at 18:05—two full minutes better than his first Ingram run and Justin Govea was almost two minutes better at 19:40, his career best. Another career best was turned in by Luke Reich who crossed at 21:48, almost two minutes better and Ruben Breceda turned in his best finish of the season with an 18:32.
In the JV division, Charles Stahle was three full minutes better than his previous best mark.
Comfort Deer
The Deer did not see gains last week but maintained the progress they have thus far achieved. Freshman Jael Hernandez set the pace, coming in at 15:37 on a course that turned out to be two miles, plus 100 meters.
Steffi Drymala and Bailey Feldman were right behind her at 15:52 and 15:53 respectively. Kacee Gunnink came in at 17:01 and Juana Leon at 17:25.
The Racers will round out homecoming week this week as they host the 4th Annual Billy Nabours Oktoberfest on Saturday.
