Once in a while, the stars line up to create a beautiful constellation, and that’s exactly what is about to happen today, Saturday, September 17. So, for those of you who receive your Boerne Star online, or who race to the post office to grab it before you have your second cup of coffee, you’re in luck!

The Comfort Art Festival is taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over 35 area artists will display their wares at the many businesses in the Historic District of Comfort. If you see this in time, head over to Comfort and check out the art.

Also, this day – the 17th of September – you can enjoy Mexican Kermes from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the grounds of the old Catholic church at 510 Broadway. This is a celebration of Mexican food and culture, with music and dancing and oh-so-much fun!

And for those of us who like to plan our calendars a bit further in advance, October is just round the corner, which means that a plethora of scarecrows soon will invade Comfort, chasing away the marauding crows. We anticipate that most – if not all – the scarecrows will have arrived by October 10, so plan a visit and enjoy the whimsey and creativity of the Comfort community.

For several years running, Gaddis Methodist Church and the Comfort Chamber of Commerce have co-sponsored Music in the Park. This event brings Texas talent to the Gazebo located in Comfort Park each month from May through October. There is no charge to attend this, one of the best community-gathering events around!

On Tuesday, October 11, the final presentation of 2022 will take place. It begins at 6 p.m. and will feature Wires & Wood.

“Known for their tight, smooth vocals, unique interpretations and inventive arrangements, Wires & Wood combines acoustic instrumentation and sweet harmonies on a refreshing compilation of bluegrass, gospel, swing, country and folk music,” information on the Wires and Woods website states.

Next on the October agenda, Comfort combines scarecrows with golden fields to create Harvest Fest. This passport event invites visitors to Comfort on Friday and Saturday, October 14-15, when local participating businesses will offer discounts and special attractions.

You will be able to pick up a passport at any participating business and have it stamped there. Passports with the most stamps will be included in a drawing for a basket or two of “goodies” from local merchants, along with an overnight stay at a Bed and Breakfast or Guest Haus.

So, whether you come today or tomorrow or over the next few weeks, please plan a trip to Comfort. It’s one the most delightful Hill County towns.

For as we like to say, you can always find Comfort in Texas!
