Comfort’s tough season continued Friday night when the Bobcat football team made the long drive to Brackettville.

Brackett scored in every quarter and went on to post a 58-24 victory over the visiting Bobcats.

Comfort slips to 0-4 this year and wraps up non-district play. The Cats are home Friday when they open 15-3A DII action against Nixon-Smiley.

The Tigers went on the prowl early and tallied three touchdowns – two passing and one rushing TD – in the first quarter for the 21-0 lead by the end of the stanza.

Adolfo Campos put the Bobcats on the board early in the second when he booted a 31-yard field goal, and it was 21-3 with 10:24 left in the half.

Comfort’s signal caller, Micah Nye, also scored for the Bobcats in the second when he ran it in from 8 yards, but Brackett tallied 16 points in the quarter to outscore the Cats, 16-10, and took a 37-10 lead into halftime.

The Tigers went up 51-10 after they tallied the first two touchdowns of the second half but the Cats kept fighting.

Late in the third quarter, Santos Hernandez caught a short pass from Nye, and it was 51-16 after a missed extra point with 24 seconds left in the quarter.

Brackett went up 58-16 with a 45-yard touchdown run in the fourth, but the Cats had the final score of the night. Topper Sterling busted loose a 64-yard touchdown run for Comfort, and it was 58-24 early in the fourth after the Campos kick. But neither team scored in the final 11:25 of the game.

Nye threw for 206 yards on 17 of 25 passing, Sterling rushed for 107 yards on just nine carries and six different Comfort players caught at least two passes. Isaiah Ibarra led the Cats with three catches for 77 yards.
