The Boerne High varsity and JV cheer squads went to the Universal Cheerleaders Association camp held at the University of Texas in Austin this summer.
The Boerne varsity girls earned UCA’s highest daily award of gold superior (1st place) ribbons for all categories including sideline, cheer and dance.
In the finals, the varsity squad received first in dance and finished second place all-around.
The BHS JV was awarded daily blue superior for sideline, cheer and dance. In camp overall, they swept first place in cheer/sideline, dance and all-around.
BHS mascot Rowdy, Korbin Pechacek, received a spirit stick and was awarded the Top Mascot on Day 3. He also earned most game day ready for the week.
Varsity captain Mayah Morrison was a recipient of the Pin It Forward award by the UCA staff which is given to 15 individual campers for stepping up to be a leader by setting a good example for their peers.
Later in the week, JV’s Victoria Young and Korbin Pechacek received a Pin It Forward award from their peers.
The following cheerleaders were named UCA’s All-American cheerleaders: For varsity - Mayah Morrison, Madeleine Goodrich, Teagan Wendland, Jocelyn Decker and Brinley Wilson.
JV All-American cheerleaders were Suzanne Vandeberg, Annalise Ortiz, Ansley Busbee, Kylie Cornett and Ellie Christianson.
Both squads received spirit sticks every day and are ready to show their spirit for this upcoming school year.
