Sharon Pike

December 17, 1946 – August 31, 2022

Sharon Pike, 75, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, after battling lung cancer.

Sharon was born in Mart, Texas, which is in the Waco area. She came into the world at the Hillcrest Memorial Hospital on December 17, 1946, to Houston Delmon Duncan and Mary Garrett Duncan. She attended John Marshall High School and acquired many lifelong friends. She was active in organizing many high school reunions, which brought together this tight-knit group.

After high school, she married Robert Koenig and resided in Somerset, Texas. She worked at Southwest Research as a secretary and was very good at her job. She worked there for many years. Sharon continued to work at Southwest Research and moved to San Antonio where she married Leighton Oliver Pike in June 1985.

Sharon retired after 20-plus years with Southwest Research and got involved with a good friend running a booth at NIOSA for several years. She adored her dogs and had quite a green thumb tending to her backyard landscape of plants.

During this time, Sharon reconnected with high school friend Jack Estess. They enjoyed being together, attending the San Antonio Rodeo, family events and weekend trips to Medina Lake.

Throughout the years, they both stayed very close with their high school friends. They brought all their likes together in their retirement home in Boerne. Jack had much to piddle with day to day and Sharon continued her love of plants and her dogs. Their neighbors were more like family to them.

Special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice workers for keeping Sharon comfortable, Home Instead Care Pros tending to her daily, her lifelong friends for their visits and her beautiful neighbors who continue to support the family during this time.

Sharon Pike is survived by her “bonus” daughters, Michele Burgoyne (Eddie) and Deanne Luther (Joel); five grandchildren, Sydney Burgoyne (Kevin), Jack Burgoyne, Taylor Burgoyne, Trevor Luther and Trenton Luther; and one great-granddaughter, Sofia Schrader. Sharon also has numerous friends who were like family to her. She was a very reliable friend who would be there to help at a moment’s notice.

Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home, 1265 N. Main St., Boerne, Texas.
