Geneva School of Boerne suffered its first loss of the season last Friday on the road and look to bounce back this Friday with a home game against Austin Regents.
The Eagles hope to hand the high-powered Knights their first loss of the year. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Boerne.
Regents is 2-0 with wins over Central Catholic (35-20) in their opener and against Midland Christian (37-14) last week.
Geneva is 1-1 and beat Austin St. Michael’s in its opener (27-20) and then lost to Randolph last week, 27-21.
Last Friday’s battle with the Ro-Hawks was a see-saw contest with four lead changes in the first half before Randolph pulled ahead at 20-14 in the third and never trailed from there.
The Ro-Hawks went up 27-14 but Geneva fought until the end. Hayden Allen caught a 25-yard pass from Jacob Rosenstiel and it was 27-21 late in the game.
The Eagles tried an onside kick and a recovery would have given them a chance at a tie or a win but the Ro-Hawks recovered the ball to seal the victory.
Randolph was able to hit some big plays against the Eagles and had a 98-yard TD run by Aaron Davis, a 52-yard punt return for a score and another long run by Davis, this time a 78-yarder for six more points.
For Geneva, Jacob Rosenstiel tossed a touchdown pass to Hayden Allen, Rosenstiel ran for another score and then Jayden Mccammon had a rushing touchdown.
The yardage was pretty even for both teams as Randolph finished with 297 yards and the Eagles totaled 277 yards.
Geneva did most of its damage in the air with 178 yards compared to 92 rushing yards, while the Ro-Hawks ran for 251 yards and only passed for 46 yards.
Despite giving up some big plays, the Geneva defense came up with three turnovers after Landon Grimes, Logan Fritcher and Hudson McNew all recovered fumbles.
