The Boerne Champion girls basketball team doubled its pleasure Friday night when the Lady Chargers visited San Antonio for a district game.

First, the Champion girls defeated Alamo Heights, and in the process, one of its players reached a personal milestone.

Champion won the game, 44-36, while senior Khiara Flugence scored 12 points to hit the 1,000-point mark in her high school career with the Chargers.

After the game, Flugence was presented with a game ball.

Flugence entered the contest at the Muledome with 988 points and needed 12 to reach the millennial mark and that’s exactly what she finished with, 12 points, on 4 of 8 shooting from the floor. She made her only 3-point attempt, added three 2-point buckets and also sank 3 three throws to record the dozen.

Madyson Marquard matched Flugence with 12 points and all 12 came from beyond the arch after she made four 3s.

Kendall Skipper netted 6, Addison Hankins finished with 5, Kristen Borgerding and Adri Davenport both chipped in with 3 points apiece and Adriana Barreiro made a free throw.

Flugence pulled down 7 rebounds, Hankins snagged 6 rebounds, Borgerding had 5 boards and Marquard collected 4 rebounds, Barreiro dished out 4 assists to go with a block and a steal, while Flugence came up with 5 steals.
