Boerne High School’s mastery over Pleasanton continued Friday night at Boerne ISD Stadium when the Greyhounds hosted the Eagles, a former district foe.

BHS had won its last four games against Pleasanton and made it five in a row on Friday after the Greyhounds plucked the Eagles, 41-7.

Boerne is 2-0 and visits Antonian on Friday for its first road game of the year.

Greyhounds coach Che Hendrix said he was “ultra-proud” of his team’s effort.

“Their practices have been very sharp and we improved as a team, and I think we showed that tonight,” he said. “I thought we played really well at times, and if we continue with that mindset, I really like our chances going forward.”

One thing that was evident during Friday’s contest was the Baize-to-Baize chemistry. BHS quarterback Jaxon Baize hit older brother, Braden Baize, on four touchdown passes.

The first brother connection came after Houston Hendrix blocked a punt and set up the offense at the Eagles 27. The second TD went 15 yards, the third was an 80-yard bomb to open the second half before the Baizes capped it off with a 37-yard TD pass and catch to end the third.

“We had a lot of guys catch the ball, that’s what we want but they (the Baize brothers) obviously have a pretty cool kind of connection,” Hendrix said.

The Greyhounds were up 17-0 in the first quarter, but Pleasanton got on the board early in the second with a nice 8-play, 75-yard drive to make it 17-7.

After the second Baize-to-Baize TD pulled Boerne ahead, 24-7, the Eagles hit a 66-yard pass to Jayce Krauskopf that gave the Eagles a first-and-goal at the 2-yard line with 15 seconds and two timeouts.

On the next play, Eagles QB Sean Ramos ran wide and was pushed out of bounds short of the end zone by Koen Wolff and Charlie Stahl with just five seconds on the clock.

Pleasanton tried to run wide again on second down but the play was stuff by the Boerne defense and the half expired.

“What an awesome stand,” Hendrix said. “When your defense bows up like that, it brings so much energy.”

Once the second-half started, that’s when the Baize brothers hit the 80-yard bomb to make it 31-7. The Baizes did it once more in the third to end the quarter.

Joe Ballenger added two field goals of 39 and 38 yards in the game while Jaxon Baize ran in the other Boerne touchdown in the first quarter.
