After a two-year COVID-19 hiatus, the George W. Kendall Chapter of the NSDAR (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution) will be hosting a public reading of the U.S. Constitution at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Veterans Plaza in Boerne. The public is invited to attend as the document will be read, uninterrupted, by a series of readers including community leaders and dignitaries.
“The United States Constitution set forth the framework for the federal government that is still in use today and we celebrate this annual commemoration of Constitution Week by presenting the document that upholds and protects the freedoms central to our way of life,” information from the NSDAR stated.
Joining the DAR in this annual event are the Sons of the American Revolution Boerne Chapter, the Boerne Middle School Fife and Drum Corps, Boerne Champion High School choir, VFW Post 688 and the Champion High School ROTC cadets.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War. With more than 177,000 members in about 3,000 chapters worldwide, DAR is one of the world's largest and most active service organizations.
