FREDERICKSBURG – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, in partnership with the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services, Child Care Licensing, will be presenting a five-hour approved training for childcare providers and directors. The training is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Gillespie County Extension Office in Fredericksburg.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Mike, will cover the theme “Music, Movement and Learning: Building Muscles in Young Brains.” Music and movement are powerful tools that engage children in meaningful learning, information in a press release stated.
“This multi-sensory experience engages the entire brain and promotes meaningful learning which produces accelerated learning, long-term retention and makes learning fun and exciting,” the information stated. “More importantly, this form of instruction meets the needs of all children, it brings joy to education!”
The other speakers for the conference include Ann Burts and Jennifer Cashman, Child Care Licensing Regulation inspectors, and their topic will be on management techniques for directors. Deb Kellstedt with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension will discuss active and outdoor play in childcare settings. Randy Seagraves is the Junior Master Gardner Curriculum coordinator for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, and he will discuss the Early Childhood Learn, Grow, Eat and Go! curriculum.
