Chargers, Greyhounds co-host Boerne ISD volleyball tournament

Boerne ISD held its annual volleyball tournament last weekend with matches at both Boerne Champion and Boerne High.

There were 16 teams in attendance and each squad was guaranteed six matches. Three of the teams were perfect at the tourney and posted a 6-0 record, including Champion, Flour Bluff and Davenport, while Boerne High went 5-1.

Teams entered include BHS, Champion, Hondo, Stevens, Corpus Christi Ray, La Vernia, Geneva School of Boerne, Flour Bluff, Laredo Alexander, San Antonio Christian Schools, Blanco, Pearsall, Brackenridge, Davenport, Medina Valley and Providence.

There were two tournament MVPs, including Champion’s Emma Wegleitner, along with Flour Bluff’s Mikaela Palmer.

All-Tournament members from Champion include Gabriella Rossello and Kelsey Rogers, while Boerne High all-tourney members were Tana Lux and Tori Adams.

Both the Chargers and Greyhounds continued the regular season Tuesday with Champion at home against Steele and BHS at Medina Valley.

 

Boerne Champion

Champion went 6-0 and improved to 14-1 overall.

On the first day, the Chargers beat Blanco, 25-13, 25-15, defeated San Antonio Christian in three sets, 16-25, 25-17, 26-24, and then put away Pearsall in two, 25-9, 25-8.

On Saturday, the Lady Chargers started the day by rallying by Ray of Corpus Christi, 25-19, 25-6, and then they swept Laredo Alexander, 25-23, 25-19, before closing out the event by powering past Providence, 25-14, 25-10.

 

Boerne High

Boerne High went 5-1 and stands at 10-5 overall. 

Boerne’s only loss came to Stevens on the first day, 25-22, 25-19.

Also on the first day, the Lady Greyhounds swept Corpus Christi Ray, 25-17, 25-13, and Hondo, 25-19, 25-14.

BHS returned on Saturday and stopped San Antonio Christian in three, 25-14, 23-25, 25-10. Later they broke Brackenridge, 25-17, 25-11, and closed out the tourney by beating La Vernia, 25-16, 25-12.
