Comfort wins second straight volleyball tournament

Comfort’s volleyball team made it a clean sweep at the Center Point Lady Pirate Tournament last weekend and took the championship match over San Antonio Stacey.

The Deer went 5-0 at the tourney and stand at 10-3 overall, after starting the year at 0-2. Comfort hosts Hondo on Tuesday.

Meghan Davis was named Tournament MVP, her second such honor this year, and sophomore Taylor Tompkins was voted to the All-Tournament Team. 

At the tourney, Comfort opened with a 25-17, 25-22 win over Medina on Friday. Later that day the Deer also defeated KIPP Academy, 25-14, 25-14, and knocked off Charlotte, 25-20, 25-12.

Comfort returned the next day and beat KIPP Academy for the second time at the tourney, 25-10, 25-21 to advance to the finals to face San Antonio Stacey in the championship match. The Deer won the title match, 25-20, 25-11, and didn’t drop a set all weekend.
