Edwin R. Wissmann
October 10, 1955 – January 21, 2022
Edwin R. Wissmann, 66, of Tarpley, Texas, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, at home. He was born October 10, 1955, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of the late Robert E. Wissmann and Rosalie Irene (Just) Pfeiffer.
Ed was formerly employed by Trinity Industries in San Antonio for 35-plus years. In addition, he was a lifelong rancher and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting big game. He had a sweet tooth and a love for spicy food, especially Mexican food. He loved TV westerns and all things “John Wayne.” He was also a dog lover and pet parent of a Chihuahua, Sparkles, and the late Chihuahua, Sparky. He made his family and pets feel important. He loved and cherished their company.
He is survived by his two children, Candice Shahan and Derek Waleko; eight grandchildren, Avery Shahan, Sienna Shahan, Jack Shahan, Katy Shahan, Sofia Shahan, Bailey Shahan, Waverley Waleko and Thatcher Waleko; three sisters, Martha Wissmann, Cathy (Rusty) Cass and Janet (David) Person; six nephews and one niece, Michael Holifield, William Cass, Randall Cass, Joseph Person, Sarah Person and Christopher Person; and two great-nephews and two great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janel Wissmann, June 19, 2021, and his mother, Rosalie (Just) Pfeiffer and stepfather Lee Roy Pfeiffer.
Ed and his boisterous laugh will be dearly missed by all who knew him; he would want everyone to know that he was more than prepared and eager to leave this world. He had hunted for the last time and was prepared to rest in peace. His passing leaves his family with heavy hearts and a lifetime of wonderful memories. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
