Maureen “Molly” Meckel
December 19, 1948 – January 20, 2022
Maureen “Molly” Meckel, 73, passed away peacefully at her home in Boerne on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Molly was born on December 19, 1948, to Dean and Hazel Vincent in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. She grew up in Cameron, Wisconsin, on her family dairy farm with her parents, five sisters and two brothers.
After high school, she went onto college where she earned a degree in computer science as well as accounting. She went to work for CDC, Control Data Corporation in Twin Cities, Minnesota. She was also a part of the computer operations team for Project Apollo helping launch Apollo 13, where she also received special recognition from President John F. Kennedy.
Molly met the love of her life, Wayne Meckel, and the two were happily married on April 13, 1983. They shared a priceless true love. She was his “Dear” and he was her “Care Bear,” faithfully by each other’s side for over 38 years.
Molly was one of many talents and passions. She was a passionate artist and loved to paint. Some of her many loves included animals (especially horses), music, dancing, plants, flowers, birds and feathers. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, bowling, thrift shopping, playing games, slot machines and so much more. She genuinely cared for people and loved her family and friends fiercely and deeply. She just sparkled.
She is survived by her spouse of 38 years, Wayne Meckel; step-daughter Tammy Burns and her husband, Darrell; step-son Robert Meckel; grandchildren Ryan Dillard and his wife, Briann, Russell Dillard, Justin Burns and Brianna Burns; and great-grandson, Noah. She is also survived by her sisters, Sharon Roubal and husband Ardie, Deborah Reynolds and husband Richard, Kate Vincent, Cindy Klanderman and husband Mike and Deanna Casler; her brothers, Bill Vincent and wife Judy and Bob Vincent and wife Sally; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by both her parents.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at Boerne Cemetery, 700 N School St., Boerne, TX 78006.
