Boerne Champion put on a strong showing at last weekend’s Bev Ball Volleyball Tournament in Abilene.
The Lady Chargers posted a 6-1 record at the event and finished in third place. Also, senior Emma Wegleitner was named to the all-tournament team.
Champion is off to a fast start this year and is 7-1. They host MacArthur on Tuesday and then co-host the Boerne ISD Tournament this weekend.
Champion opened the event with a sweep of Sweetwater, 25-12, 25-9.
Up next, the Lady Chargers beat Lubbock Coronado in two, 25-14, 25-20.
Later on Friday, Champion dropped a set to El Paso Americas but won the match, 25-22, 18-25, 25-21.
The Lady Chargers closed out the day on Friday with a sweep of Tuscola Jim Ned, 25-14, 25-19, to remain undefeated on Friday at 4-0.
Champion returned on Saturday and faced Burleson, winning the match 25-18, 25-14.
The Burleson win advanced the Chargers to tournament semifinals where they played Wylie.
It was a tough battle for both and two of the three sets went beyond 25 points but the Abilene school prevailed, 18-25, 26-24, 25-27.
From there the Chargers faced Clyde for third place and won 26-24, 25-14 to claim third overall.
